Frequently Asked Questions
How do I schedule a bodywork session or a free consultation?
Call, text, or email me your interest and availability! Phone is (904) 434-5701 and email is AshleysTherapeuticMassage@gmail.com.
Or you can book a bodywork session online at calendly.com/AshleyNJohnsonLMT
Are there any health benefits?
Yes! Massage often improves circulation, facilitates muscle relaxation and increased awareness, and can be a vessel for co-regulation and processing feelings or memories held in our bodies. I also aim to provide tools and resources for sustainable, longer-lasting change that supports balance and wellbeing.
How much do I undress? Is massage therapy sexual?
You can undress as much or as little as you want — your underwear areas will remain fully draped. PLEASE NOTE that my massage therapy practice is NOT sexual in nature.
State of Florida statute 480.043 and the Florida Board of Massage Therapy's Code of Ethics explicitly prohibit all sexual activity and sexual misconduct in the context of massage therapy practice or within a massage establishment.
How much do sessions cost?
30 min - $50
60 min - $85
90 min - $110
120 min - $135
Mobile massage - additional $40
Groups and parties - $40 +$95/hour
Is my therapist the “expert”?
Nope! YOU are the expert of your body and have the most insight into what feels good and beneficial. I offer a toolbox of skills and support that previous clients have found to be helpful, I continuously learn from bodywork professionals to improve my practice, and I can let you know if there are any concerns or contraindications for you specifically based on my education, but I find the most fruitful sessions to be collaborative, with open communication between client and therapist, and a deep respect for the innate wisdom in our bodies and healing potential of safe, therapeutic, caring touch.
Where do sessions take place?
At my shared studio at 2602 NW 6th St, Suite A, Gainesville, FL 32609 or I bring my table to you for an additional $40.
Does massage hurt?
My approach is gentle and I encourage you to let me know if anything hurts or is uncomfortable so I can adjust — it is usually best to stay below your pain threshold so your body is relaxed enough to unwind and integrate the work. I try not to cause any pain.
What training or licensure do you have?
I graduated from the Florida School of Massage in November 2025 where I was trained in various modalities including Swedish, Connective Tissue, Polarity, Neuromuscular, and Sports massage therapy. I am licensed under the Florida Board of Massage Therapy (MA108829) as of December 2025. I’ve pursued additional training in Feldenkrais, Thai massage, and trauma-informed bodywork. I also have a B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Sociology from UF.
Do you offer sliding scale or discounts?
Yes - I have a limited number of sliding-scale clients who pay between $5-15 less for services based on financial need. Reach out if interested!
I’m also open to some appropriate bartering/trading goods or services, and offer donation-based chair massage at local events.
I also offer discounts for first-time clients ($10 off), referrals ($20 off), multi-session packages, and some holidays.
